We are asking Homestay Hosts to volunteer to host pilgrims from overseas - or from outside Sydney - from 14 July to 21 July 2008.

Pilgrims will be 18 years or older. Homestay Hosts are asked to provide sleeping space and breakfast (cold or hot) on a complimentary basis

HOMESTAY INSURANCE NEWSFLASH/UPDATE

WYD 2008 has taken out insurance cover with Catholic Church insurances (CCI) for all host families registering in the Homestay Program for the period Monday, 14 July 2008 to Saturday, 21 July 2008 (inclusive). The insurance also covers the extended days either side of WYD08 week.

The insurance cover taken out by WYD 2008 comprises:

• one policy that covers each host against theft and /or malicious damage caused to their home or contents by a pilgrim; and
• a second policy that covers each host for any claim excess incurred and/or increases in premium up to the value of $1,500 per claim in total, as a result of malicious damage to or theft of a host?s vehicle by a pilgrim

In addition to the insurance cover taken out by WYD 2008 on behalf of Homestay hosts, host families are also considered to be volunteers who are covered by either the WYD 2008 or Diocese/Parish public liability policies. These policies cover as host for claims made against them for personal injury/property damage arising out of their voluntary work as hosts. The actual cover provided under the policies is subject to the terms and conditions of each policy.

Notwithstanding the above, WYD 2008 does recommend that you hold home and contents insurance and the policy provides you with appropriate public liability cover.
