Prior to WYD08

  • Liaise with the Catechist Bishops
  • Attend the World Youth Day 2008 training workshop
  • Attend the final briefing on 15 July 2008 in Sydney, Venue TBA

During WYD08

  • Liaise with the Bishop, priests, site manager, sacristan, volunteers, and anyone else responsible for delivery of services at the catechesis site
  • Coordinate delivery of the catechesis program, with the assistance of the people listed above
  • Provide music, readers, and altar servers for Mass. Extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist will not be required.

Roles

  • Leader
  • MC
  • Musicians including singers/choir
  • Readers for Mass
  • Servers for Mass
  • Other team members who will give testimonies, present dramas or sketches, etc.

Therefore minimum size of the animating team would be 5 or 6. The ideal team would be 10 or more.

The animating teams are not solely responsible for coordinating the entire event. Other staff will be appointed from the operations team to manage the physical set up of the venue; catering staff will coordinate lunch; and a sacristan (appointed through the Liturgy department) will assist with the liturgical components.

Costs

  • Animating teams will be comprised of registered pilgrims therefore they pay their own costs for attendance at WYD08 just as any other pilgrim would i.e. flights, registration, accommodation, meals, etc.
  • As per the above, animating teams will need to bring their own instruments with them or make their own arrangements
  • Song sheets, art work, prayer cards or any other item used as part of the delivery of catechesis
  • Australia & NZ only: Attendance at training workshops provided by WYD08 i.e. transport and accommodation where necessary, but not the content of the workshop.
  • All: Any costs associated with other training and preparation of the animating teams

Other costs such as venue booking, PA systems, and liturgical supplies will be met by WYD08.
